Program Manager, Health Information Management and Technology in Madison, WI

The University of Wisconsin-Extension Division of Continuing Education, Outreach and E-Learning (CEOEL) is a national leader in innovative, engaging, and highly effective online programs and student services. Each program supported by the division has a program management team. The team has responsibilities for all aspects of managing that program including but not limited to working with faculty, developing online courses and instructional materials, marketing, student recruitment, student retention, IT support, etc. Program teams are given clear performance metrics and performance expectations, and each member of each team is expected to contribute directly to the achievement of program goals.
A Program Manager is the project manager on a program team. As such he/she plays a leadership role and is the senior member of a team administering one or more of the online programs offered through the division. This is a highly collaborative and integrated position. As a team leader, the program manager has primary responsibility for the results of the team and for achieving those results through effective team leadership. The Program Manager must create and maintain an environment that is supportive, inclusive, and engaging for staff, faculty, and students associated with that program.
Although the Program Manager works within a team that is dedicated to specific program(s), he/she must also work much more widely across all units within the division, with individuals and groups in UW-Extension, and with faculty, students, and administrative and support staff across the entire UW System. Hence, the ability and commitment to be highly engaging, articulate, supportive, collaborative, and transparent are essential characteristics for this position.
